Uranus in Gemini and the Evolution of Communication

Beginning July 7th, Uranus will end its 7 year transit in Taurus and enter into the mentally driven sign of Gemini. So what does this mean for the collective and how will it affect you on a personal level? Let's start by exploring the role of Uranus....

Uranus is the planet of rebellion, shake-ups, breakthroughs, and unexpected changes. Think of it as an energy similar to the Tower card in tarot. It brings energy that is meant to shake things up in order to break apart structures and rules that are no longer working in order to bring in fresh perspective needed for growth and evolution. It's not always the most pleasant energy....but growth and expansion aren't always meant to be. Uranus usually spends about 7 years in each zodiac and so the changes that it does bring usually take time to come to fruition and usually are things experienced on a collective level, bringing collective shifts.

Since 2018, Uranus has been in the traditional, family oriented, abundant loving sign of Taurus. Taurus represents what we place value on....it's our family and religious values, as well as our relationship to money and the value we place on our financial world. Taurus tends to be a very traditional and slow to change energy, and usually what we choose to place value on in our lives is connected to "how things have always been". We tend to stick to what we know or what we believe has worked in the past, even when it doesnt seem to be giving us the best results. The Uranus Taurus transit that started in May of 2018 brought shakeups that forced us to reevaluate our own values. We have gone through experiences that have made us reevaluate the way we deal with money, commitments, and even our own traditional beliefs. As we close out this transit take some time to reevaluate what holds value to you and how you are nurturing what it is you value. Remember, abundance of anything does not come to you based on all the hard work you are doing, but rather what you are placing value on, how you show you value it, and how much value you are placing on yourself.

So, how will the Uranus Gemini affect us over the next 7 years? Gemini is the sign of duality, connecting to others, and most importantly communication. This transit is going to bring in changes and shakeups to the way we are communicating and connecting with others. So lets take a deep dive into what to expect...

Our words and thoughts are powerful and ideally our communication with one another should be uplifting, supportive, thought provoking, and helpful. But it seems overtime words are used more to bring destruction or used as a manipulative tool than anything. When we communicate to others we are attempting to project our thoughts and ideas out to the world and to others, but alot of times that becomes manipulative or an attempt at gaining power or control without even realizing it. A lot of communication is manipulative...think about it, usually what you are expressing to others is in an attempt or desire to get them in agreement with you in some way. Seems innocent enough right?...but to some degree it is manipulation...its you trying to project your thoughts out to gain acceptance in some way. We communicate what we think others want to hear, we avoid saying things we think will upset another or avoid communicating things that we think another may not agree with. We very seldom will directly communicate exactly what is on our mind, but instead find passive aggressive ways to communicate. We use communication or silence as punishment. Again....most of communication is subconscious manipulation or an attempt to gain power without even realizing that is what we are doing.

I read the book The Celestine Prophecy (by James Redfield) about 25 years ago (it is truly an amazing book and i recommend everyone read it!). One thing that stood out to me is that it sorted of hinted to the idea that humans aren't really meant to communicate to each other in the way we do and ideally we should be able to communicate easily without words. We are energetic beings at our core and our energy speaks for us way before our words even think about being spoken. We connect to others by energy first....not by the words being used. The words we use are just an attempt to get the focus on what we want to focus on. A lot of times the energy being expressed completely contradicts the words being spoken (which is probably why we dont trust easily because nothing makes sense). We dont want people to see our vulnerability and so we create masks with the words that we are using.....we try to speak in a way that we think people will understand or we will speak about ourselves by speaking on what we want others to know about us or we avoid talking about what we are really feeling for fear of it not being accepted. We will even try to fill every moment of silence with words to keep things going or keep things interesting but in all honesty it really is an attempt to distract from what may be discovered in the silence.

It's important for us to understand that communication is not just simply the words that we say, but also what we communicating with our emotions (or lack of), how well we are listening and paying attention, and also our actions. Yes it seems odd to say that your actions are a form of communication....but if your actions dont match your words, then you are communicating contradiction. Whether we realize it or not, people are responding to our energy (which is a combination of your thoughts, feelings, desires, resentments, and motivations) and not just our words.

This transit is going to shake up how we typically communicate with each other by reflecting how words and communication have been used as weapons and forms of power struggles or manipulation. It will help us to learn to communicate more on a soul and energetic level and bring more awareness our intuitive nature.

Do you ever notice that some people seem to get and understand you without you having to say a word, while others never seem to get you no matter how much you fight to explain yourself? That's because communication and connection are never just about the words being expressed...but the energy being communicated under the surface.
