Weekend Reflection: Are you a follower or a leader?

You may feel more often than not that this thing called life is completely outside of your control. You may feel that you spend a great deal of time at the mercy of the universe or the craziness around you or feel that life is more a game of survival than something for you to actually experience and enjoy. But believe it or not...you DO have creative control of your life and YOU ARE the creator of every experience past, present, and future. The only thing that prevents you from being able to embrace a life that you love and enjoy is the assumption that you have no control.
Everything that you (and everyone around you) experiences in life is based on the stories that are repeatedly told (either the stories you tell about your life, or the stories that other people say about your life that you believe). The universe/God/Source/Angels...all of it follows energetic laws. Meaning that the energetic frequency you reside in and emit the most consistently, is the energy you will attract into your day to day experience. Your thoughts, beliefs, emotions....and the stories you tell are creating your energy that pulls everything that matches into your reality. Ideally, we are all meant to learn and embrace the understanding that WE are the creators of our reality. That we have the capability to have and experience anything we desire simply by taking responsibility and creative control of every aspect of our lives (and not control in the aggressive sense, but control in the form of ownership and acceptance). But that requires becoming a leader....becoming the leader of your own life and letting go of the idea that you are fighting against the world around you.
There are two types of people in the world...the followers and the leaders (and you will find yourself experience both in this life...its up to you which you decide to stick with). Followers believe that life is happening to them and that they need to prepare for everything that may happen or come to pass. They are reactive to the environment around them and the actions/inactions of others. They can be having the best day ever, then someone triggers them and all of a sudden they are down in the dumps. They exist in survival mode....living paycheck to paycheck, day to day....searching for any sort of temporary relief or anything that can give a slight glimpse of hope. The stories they are telling are not even their own stories.....but the stories of others (because they are followers...not leaders). They need the approval of others and take judgements from others harshly. They will adjust themselves over and over to appease others...only to feel frustrated and let down when that does not yield any positive results. They ask..."Why is this happening to me?" or "Why cant I catch a break?" over and over. When we sit in the space of a follower for too long, our energy becomes contracted and our creativity is blocked. We believe that we have no control, because we feel controlled by life....we feel we have to fight all the battles first, or wait for our big breakthrough to come bless us before we can get creative and enjoy life. But unfortunately....as long as the follower stays in survival mode and the creative block exists...the follower stays a follower and stays stuck in ego based experiences.
The Leader on the other hand, sees something they desire and they go after it with no question. They dont ask if something is a safe risk or if something is meant for them or not, instead they recognize if they feel inspired that they should go for it. They dont look for the approval of others, because they realize that the others aren't the ones living their life, they are. They dont let rejection or criticism deter them, but use that to fuel their creativity. They dont reside in survival mode, so their energy isn't controlled or contracted, leaving them more open to notice and receive opportunities and divine inspiration. They are creative beings...they know that there is always a solution or opportunity and if they cant find one, they create it. They recognize that life is meant to be lived to the fullest and not spent following the dangling carrot in hopes that one day he can catch a bite.
The difference in the leader and the follower is not in genetics or the way that they were raised (although the way we are raised does play a role...it doesn't dictate how we have to remain).....the difference is in the stories that they are listening to and telling themselves....it the narrative they follow for their lives. Followers tend to inadvertently fit themselves into the stories and narratives of others or that others have set before them (because they lost their creative spark and thus end up attaching their stories to whatever is around them). Leaders tell their own story....no matter how ridiculous it may seem to others. Followers see challenges and change as unsafe...while leaders see it as an opportunity to venture into something new. Both are powerful and strong in their own right (it takes a lot of strength to fight in survival mode...and it takes a lot of confidence to take charge). Both are using the same amount of energy in essence because even though it may appear the follower takes less action, it still requires the same amount of energy to keep bracing and preparing for what is next...it's draining to keep having to follow suit even though it would appear easy. We have all been in the energy of the follower before and likely still are in certain areas of our lives and that isnt because we have been or are weak.....it's simply because we tend to forget that we are the creators or we get sucked into the narrative that life is a battle to fight through.
So where in life do you feel like you have lost creative control? Where do you feel you are following instead of leading? And what is the story that you are telling yourself that is keeping you in that space? Stepping into the leadership role in your life doesnt mean you have to be aggressive and bold and possess superhuman strength...it just requires some creativity. You simply have to become aware of the old outworn stories you are telling...and start telling new ones....and keep telling new stories until you start to feel like the leader again. Much love!
